What do you guys think of opening a tanning salon?

I'm planning to open a new luxurious tanning salon here in Kuwait. Just to let you all know, that the tanning industry in my country is totally new. So, what do you think in general?


Good business idea?


or not?


if yes, why and if not, why?

I dont know how anything works in Kuwait, but here in Australia, it was proven that a young lady died because of cancer caused by a tanning bed, and now all over the country, tanning salons are shutting down.





If you do it, you need to understand the risks involved, get trained properly and have excellent work ethics. You cant just allow sensetive skinned people to lay on a tanning bed for 4 hours a day, you will have to learn how to say no. On the other hand, I dont know why it wouldnt make money. Any salon of any sort cost a fortune, and rake in the money.





The thing that I find puts me off salons is the rude staff. Usually you walk into the salon, if they dont like you they will turn their noses up at you, take your money, give you a really bad service and kick you out.


However, if you have money they will get on all fours for you and lick urine off your feet if you ask them to... it all depends on how much they like you.


So keep in mind that if you are passionate about opening a salon, treat EVERY client the same, whether they have millions or just a few dollars. You need to keep in mind that you are probably making someone very happy that you are pampering them.

Personally, I think tanning salons are gross and unhealthy. But if the people in that area are tan-savvy, then it looks like you'd be getting business.
